A Complete Guide to the AEOTrack FAQ Schema Generator: FAQs Grounded in Your Own Page
Introduction
The AEOTrack FAQ Schema Generator (found under Improve → FAQ schema in the sidebar) writes a short FAQ for your site from the text of one of your own pages, with matching schema.org FAQPage JSON-LD. You review the questions and answers, approve the ones you want, and only then can an integration publish them.
A clear FAQ helps buyers and keeps your facts straight wherever they are quoted. It is hygiene, not a visibility lever: studies found no measurable effect of structured data on AI citations, and what gets a brand named is being mentioned on the sites the engines read (Get named: work the off-site plan).
This guide uses a fictional example company: Acme Coffee Roasters (acmecoffee.example).
How the answers are written
- From a page you choose. AEOTrack reads the text of a page on your tracked website, your homepage by default, with menus, footers and scripts stripped out. You can choose another page of your site instead, or paste the page text when your site blocks our reader.
- Every answer quotes the page. Each answer must come with a quote from that page. An answer whose quote is not on the page is dropped, so the FAQ never says something your own site does not.
- Unsupported questions are left out. If the page does not say enough to answer a question, that question is not included. If the page supports no answers at all, the generator says so instead of making an FAQ up; pick a page with more detail, such as a product, pricing or FAQ page.
- Drafts first. Every new FAQ starts as a draft. You edit, remove and approve items; drafts are never published by any integration (WordPress, GitHub, llms.txt).
Generating and approving an FAQ
- Enter a topic in the generator field (e.g.,
Coffee subscriptions) to steer which questions are asked. - Click Generate. AEOTrack reads the page and writes the questions and answers it can support from it.
- Review the draft. Read each answer against your page. Edit wording, remove anything you would not say to a customer.
- Approve. Approve the items you want published, one at a time or with Approve all. Until you do, FAQs stay drafts and the integrations publish none.
- View schema: Click
</> View schemato see theFAQPageJSON-LD for the approved items.
Example generated output
- Topic:
Coffee subscriptions - Question:
How fresh are the beans when they arrive? - Answer:
Every order is roasted to order and ships within 48 hours of roasting, so most bags arrive 2 to 4 days after their roast date.(quoted from Acme's subscription page)
The same block goes on to answer the questions that page covers: pausing or skipping a delivery, which grind to choose, how much coffee you need each month, and shipping outside the US.

Publishing approved FAQs
Structured data should describe content visitors can see, so publish the FAQ as a visible section on the page it belongs to, with the markup next to it:
- WordPress: the plugin's
[aeotrack_faq]shortcode shows the approved questions and answers, with matching markup, wherever you place it. See The WordPress plugin. - GitHub: a pull request adds
aeotrack/faq-section.html, the visible section plus markup, ready to place in your template. See the GitHub integration. - By hand: copy the approved questions and answers onto the page, and the JSON-LD from
</> View schemainto the same page.
Check the result with Google's Rich Results Test or Search Console's URL inspection.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why did the generator leave out a question I expected? Because the page it read does not answer it. Add the answer to the page (or choose a page that has it), then generate again.
Why did it say it could not make an FAQ? The page did not say enough to support any answer without making things up. Use a page with more detail about the topic.
Can I edit the questions and answers? Yes, while the FAQ is a draft: edit or remove items, then approve.
Does FAQ schema get me named by AI engines? Not on its own. A controlled test found no significant effect of structured data on AI citations. Keep it as hygiene and spend your time on the sources the engines read.
Conclusion
The FAQ Schema Generator gives you a short, accurate FAQ built only from what your own page says, which you approve before anything is published. Use it to keep your facts clear and consistent; use the off-site plan to get named.
