Why results differ from your own chat
How a check is run
Each check asks each AI tool your question once, word for word, through the tool's API. The call is a fresh session: no chat history, no memory, no custom instructions and no signed-in account. Web search is on, so the answer is built from pages the tool found that day. When your account has a country set, ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity are told that country for their search. Gemini and Grok take no location.
Why your own chat can answer differently
- Memory and history. Your app may remember earlier conversations and what you have told it about your business.
- Sign-in. A signed-in account carries its own settings and can run a different model version.
- Location. Your app sees where you are. A check sends a country at most.
- Wording. A small change in the question changes the answer.
- Web search. Your app decides for itself whether to search. A check always does.
- Variation. The same question asked twice in a row can name different brands.
Neither answer is wrong. They are two separate askings of the same question.
How to compare fairly
- Open a new chat, signed out or in a temporary chat.
- Type the question exactly as it is tracked.
- Make sure web search is on.
- Ask more than once and note who is named each time.
Open the stored answer
Every answer AEOTrack stores can be opened in full from Responses on the question, with the date it was asked, the model that answered and the sources it read. That is the record of what the tool returned on that date.
Get a fresh answer
Check again on a question asks every AI tool again now. On a question that has not been checked yet the button reads Check now. One re-check within 24 hours of the last check is free; the others use your plan's monthly on-demand re-checks.
