Your 6-week plan: the Weekly plan page
What it is
The Weekly plan lays your improvement work out week by week. In the app it is Plan → Weekly plan in the sidebar, next to the Action plan, and the page is titled Your N-week plan.
It is not a separate list. It takes the tasks on your Action plan, which are built from your own answers, the sources the engines read and the competitors they named, and spreads them over the weeks.
| Account | What the Weekly plan shows |
|---|---|
| Paid plan (Starter, Pro, Agency, Enterprise) | Every week in full: tasks, targets, the estimated band and your real weekly score |
| 7-day free trial | Week one in full; the later weeks as their task counts and bands |
| Ended trial | What the page is for, and a link to the plans |
| Free audit | No plan: the audit shows the answers, names and pages read for its one question, and the plan starts with the trial |
How long the plan is
A plan runs for 4 to 6 weeks, Monday to Sunday. The length follows your score at the start of the plan: the further you are from being named, the longer it is.
| Score at the start | Plan length |
|---|---|
| Below 15 (including 0) | 6 weeks |
| 15 to 39 | 5 weeks |
| 40 and above | 4 weeks |
The first plan starts on the Monday of the week your first plan task was created. When a plan ends, the next one starts and its length is worked out again from your score then. The page always shows the plan that contains this week, as Week N of L.
Which task goes in which week
- Tasks keep the Action plan's order: getting onto the sites the engines read first, then improving the answers you already appear in, then the site checklist.
- Each week holds up to three open tasks, starting from the current week.
- A task you finish stays in the week you finished it.
- Tasks that do not fit in the plan are listed under Later.
- Each task shows its target: for an off-site task, the site, the page the engines read most, the questions it was read for and the businesses named from it; for an on-site task, your own pages.
Ticking a task on the Weekly plan is the same tick as on the Action plan. How to work each kind of site is in Get named: work the off-site plan.
The estimated score band
The chart shows a shaded band: what typically happens to your score if each week's tasks are done. It is labelled Estimate. It is not a guarantee: the engines decide whom they name.
How it is worked out:
- It starts from your score at the start of the plan.
- Each task is assumed to add a small number of points to the 0–100 score, counted from the week after it is done, because the engines have to read the changed page first:
- getting onto a site the engines read: 0.5 to 2 points;
- improving a page that already appears in answers: 0.3 to 1.5 points;
- a site checklist fix: 0 to 0.5 points.
- Past weeks count only the tasks you actually finished. The current and later weeks count the plan as if each week's tasks get done. A task left undone in a past week counts nowhere.
- The band is capped at 100.
The numbers are small on purpose: a first mention moves an average over every answer by a point or two. The card By week L, if the tasks are done (estimate) shows the band at the end of the plan.
Your real score against it
The line on the same chart is your measured score: the last score from your checks in each week. Read it like this:
- A single week outside the band is normal. AI answers vary from check to check.
- Read a move against the score's ± range: inside it is normal variation, outside it is real. See What the ± on a score means.
- Look at the line over several weeks, not one check.
When the page says "Your plan is being built"
The plan needs your first check and your Action plan. Both are made from your questions within minutes of adding them. Come back after the first check has finished.
