Track several countries
Why one country is not enough
ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity answer for the place the question is asked from. "Best project management tool for agencies" asked from India, the United States and the United Kingdom can name different brands in each. A business in India that sells in the US, the UK and Europe sees only one of those answers if it tracks one country, and that answer may not be the one its buyers see.
Each website in AEOTrack has one or more markets: the countries its questions are asked from. The first one is its home market.
Add a market
- Open Prompts → Questions (or Topics) for the website.
- On the Market card, choose Add markets (or Edit markets).
- Under Add a country, pick each country you sell in. Use Make home to choose which one is first.
- Leave Track my home-market questions and topics in the new markets too ticked to watch the same things everywhere from day one.
- Choose Save markets. Before you save, the card says how many questions and topics the change adds to your plan's counts.
The new copies are checked on the next scheduled run, or straight away with Check now on each one.
Europe is not one market: add the countries you sell in, for example Germany, France and the Netherlands.
How many countries your plan allows
| Plan | Countries per website |
|---|---|
| Free trial | 1 |
| Starter | 1 |
| Pro | Up to 3 |
| Agency | Up to 5 |
| Enterprise | Up to 10 |
Each question in each market counts toward your plan's question limit, and each topic toward its topic limit, because each one is asked of every engine again. A website with 10 questions in 3 markets uses 30 questions. Prompt packs raise the question limit (Managing your subscription).
If you move to a plan with fewer countries, nothing is removed. The markets past your plan's number show as paused: their questions and topics keep their history but are not checked until you upgrade or remove a market.
A city or region within a country
Each market can name a city and a state or region, for example United States: Austin, Texas. ChatGPT and Claude are then asked as a user in that city. Perplexity and Google AI Mode are asked for the country only. Use it when your buyers are local, such as a clinic, a restaurant or a law firm.
Your score in each market
- The headline score stays one number over every question in every market, so your trend, alerts and reports continue as before.
- Each market's own score is shown on its chip on the Market card, and on the By market card on Home with its trend over the last 90 days.
- Choosing a market's chip filters the list to that market's questions or topics. A question you add while a market is chosen is tracked there only.
Gemini, Grok, Copilot and Meta AI take no location, so their answers are the same in every market. Only ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google AI Mode answer differently by country.
Remove a market
Remove it on the Market card and save.
- Questions in that market stop being asked. Their answers stay as history, and they come back with that history if you add the market again.
- Topics in that market are deleted with their answers. The card says how many before you save.
Why your score can differ from asking ChatGPT yourself
Location is one reason; there are others. When you ask ChatGPT yourself it also uses your city, your history and its memory of you. AEOTrack asks every question fresh, from the market you set, with web search on. See Why results differ from your own chat.
